Mr Yobbo found that if he stares hard at the glass in the back of the tank he can see another betta, And its time to flare and fight. My solution was to line the inside of the tank with those 3d Styrofoam backgrounds.

Tanks are looking better, Nick, very much so!  :thumbup2:

It's good of you to do this for what I presume to be your community, while many follows, someone has to lead to set an example for others to follow, so that one day they'll also become community leaders, getting involved with projects to make the community a better place for all to live. Attitudes are contagious, and not just the bad ones.

Hopefully others, including visitors to the community, will see and appreciate the work you've performed, even though it's unlikely they'll never know it was you.

We have placed a collection box near the tank for  " Tank upkeep and maintenance" or as I like to call it beer money LOL.

Yes, some beer money would be great! :thumbup2:

It's been years back, but a man I knew (not a friend, just lived in the same building), asked me to take a look at his computer, see what needed fixing and what I'd charge. All that he needed was two new RAM sticks, of which there were plenty on hand, from computers that couldn't be fixed. All I wanted as $10 for both memory chips (4GB total) and a case of beer. That $10 wasn't going in my pocket, was going back to the charity.

When I told him the price, he balked, got mad & stated he could do it himself for less, taking the notebook with him. He was drunk at the time. Come the next day, he brought it back to me & accepted my offer, I told him that the sticks just left the door on another computer & it would cost him $20 & a case of beer. He balked again, this time sober, saying I wasn't 'honoring my word'. Had he not shown his butt, he'd  have gotten what was a $100 upgrade at the time for $17 or so & this I let him know, but also stated that I'd now have to get sticks that cost more now.

Really I was trying to teach him to listen, because I don't like to be bad mouthed when I did nothing to deserve it. At any rate, despite his wife's objections to be reasonable, he said he was going to take it to an 'honest' shop, which was Best Buy because he had a credit card there. Afterwards, his wife would continue to speak to me (when he wasn't around), but he never spoke to me again.

About a month later, his wife told me what that repair cost, over $200 with parts & labor with a 5 year warranty on the RAM sticks & a year on labor. I  told her that I was beyond being reasonable & she then told me he was that way with everyone, including her.

Oh well, that's the way it goes. All that was in it for me was a case of beer.  :hysterical:

Like the rest of our pets, fish can also become jealous, especially if he was the first one there, he considers that tank as his domain or turf, and like animals, will refuse to budge on that. We once had a cat that would never allow another cat around, period.

As a kid, I remember my dad placing new fish in the tank & many didn't last long, though others did for a long time. They fight too, and the smaller ones just can't put one up, and sometimes they'll eat the little ones. He had a tank that had some type of a mini shark, two of them, and would purchase minnows at the fishing supply, throw them in there a couple at a time, they'd last every bit of 2 minutes, if they were lucky. I believe he was getting kicks at watching them fight, as sometimes, he'd get a couple of goldfish & toss them in for a treat.

That snail must be pretty big for it to dwarf the fishies like that, Nick.

I was just told, They are juvenile bristle nose (BN) Plecos.

Pleco or Plecostomus?

If you are new to the hobby, you will only ever rarely hear “plecos” referred to as a plecostomus. There is a simple reason for this – it’s considered bad luck to refer to plecos by their full name. There is a belief among some in the fish keeping hobby, that if you use the full name, you will soon have a dead pleco

Cool, they are the best ones for smaller tanks. Only get to about 10 -12 centimeters long.

My wife put a common pleco in our tank  ... I sold it when it got close to 20cm. But they will keep growing up to 60cm.

Holy catfish Batman!
