Hey guys :)

I thought it would be interesting if we had a show-off thread where people could post their computer specs and see who here got some bad-ass build. You can list your hardware/specs individually, link PCPartPicker builds, like a list on Newegg, Ebay, Amazon, etc. anything, or simply use Speccy like I will :P

This is my custom built desktop, 3 years old, there's an extra 1TB WD HDD plugged in waiting to be connected to a power cable, other than that, I raised the RAM from 8 to 16GB on Black Friday and will probably upgrade it in the future if there's a need to. Case is a CM StormTrooper (it's ugly I know, I would give anything for an Obsidian 900d right now, oh well. No idea why the RAM is clocking at 799-800MHz too when it's supposed to be 1333-1600, I'll have to take a look into it, unless someone have suggestions.

Show us what you got

Edit: And here's my work laptop (not mine, belongs to me job), a Lenovo ThinkPad T540p. Good machine, I just had the trackpad, can't stand it.

Now I only have my personal laptop left to list :P

DDR = Double Data Rate, in simple terms this means you multiply the 800 frequency by 2 which would give you 1600. It looks like it is setup correctly.

I'll post my specs later today. I think they are all listed in my profile as well. The only thing I want to upgrade at the moment is the video card from the current 7970 to either a 970 or 980. I am waiting for AMD's 390x or whatever they call it to see if that one will compete. The power profile of the 970 and 980 is outstanding. It would probably drop the temperature in my computer room by 10 degrees F in the summer if I switched to a 970.

Did you hear about the GTX970 controversy? That it'll pretty much bottleneck at over 3.5Gb of RAM in use so it's not a "real" 4Gb like NVIDIA advertised it for? A lot of people avoid buying it because of that. And thanks for the information, looks like I have nothing to worry about my RAM then :P

Yeah I have heard about the issue. Even still it is a significant upgrade when you consider heat/power/performance compared to my current 7970. If I can not make use of the extra 500mb it isn't a big deal breaker for me. Maybe they will do something to fix the issue before I buy one. I also looked at the 980 but I am waiting for the prices to drop. I will probably wait until the next gen nvidia's come out or hope the AMD 390x is cost friendly and power friendly.

I used to stay on top of the video card market but being as my game playing days are very limited, I haven't had the need to upgrade as of yet.

Apparently it's a hardware limitation and it cannot be solved via drivers update or such, so the whole "batch" of 970 they produced will have that issue. I barely know anything about hardware, just enough to keep a decent conversation, hence why I'm really bad when it comes to builds and hardware installation troubleshooting. Some people like cars, some people like computer hardware haha.

Maybe they will revise the 970 or the price will drop due to the issue. So far I have not noticed any price changes really. I haven't looked in the last month but I believe the 970's are still going for ~$349.

This is the machine I built last July. No dedicated graphics card, and I'm still using the stock cooler that came with the 4690.

This is less than what I paid for my 670 back in the days, so sad :P I might have to change the CPU one day, I'm stacking it at 100% whenever I play Guild Wars 2 and that came isn't "that" intensive. Maybe I should just overclock it and see what it gives but I never did that and I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Bezukhov, having a bit of storage I see? :P
